Angel Crackers: Pulling together to end loneliness in Islington this winter 🎉

This winter, Islington is pulling together once again to fight loneliness with Angel Crackers!

Angel Crackers – fun, festive crackers packed with goodies – will raise vital funds for grassroots community organisations offering connection, joy and practical support to vulnerable Islington residents.

For a suggested donation of ÂŁ5 per cracker, supporters help fund activities such as safe spaces for isolated people in our community, inclusive food co-ops bringing people together, and accessible safe storage spaces and practical support for those experiencing homelessness.

Loneliness is a growing crisis in Islington, one of the most unequal boroughs in the UK, with some of the highest levels of poverty and mental ill health in the country. With rising costs, grassroots organisations supporting our most vulnerable neighbours are also under unprecedented strain.

Proceeds from Angel Crackers will support and fund vital activities such as safe spaces for isolated people in our community, inclusive food co-ops bringing people together, and accessible safe storage spaces and practical support for those experiencing homelessness.

“Angel Crackers are such a joyful way of tackling something really serious. Loneliness can be devastating, but when our community comes together like this, we can turn crackers into connection.” – Sarah Benioff, CEO of Islington Giving

The project is a collaboration between Islington Giving, Angel Islington BID, and the Business Design Centre, supported by Mulalley, sponsored this year by Bolt Burdon Solicitors.

Each cracker is handmade by local volunteers, and there are Golden Tickets hidden inside offering prizes from local businesses, Spring Valley Coffee, Flight Club, Stretch Life, Loom and Things, Compane, Sirplus, Jams Catering, Sticks’n’Sushi, and Kings Head Theatre.

“We are supporting Islington Giving to create direct impact in the community. By volunteering to create Christmas crackers, we want to help to challenge loneliness and homelessness in our borough as well.” – Amber Perrier, Mullaley
