Lockdown sports and life skills

Thanks to the generosity of people and businesses, Islington Giving Crisis Fund has supported a number of groups delivering services for children and young people in the borough during Covid-19.

One of the funded groups, Sports and Life Skills CIC, have delivered a wide range of physical activities, to help encourage local families in the community stay active and support mental wellbeing.

“Thanks to the support from Islington Giving, we have been able provide families with the necessary resources i.e. laptops and sports equipment, to help them take part in a variety of activities from yoga, boxing, maths masterclass’s, talk with friends, sports quizzes, family fitness just to name a few.” says Steven Marshall, Founder of Sports and Life Schills. “We are currently in week 5, with 5 more weeks scheduled to go. We have had great attendance and positive feedback as we made sure we liaised with parents and young people to design the programme”.

All sessions are free and accessible for all, offering a safe and simulating platform for children and parents to interact and engage with other families within the community. Their weekly timetable can be seen on their website and there is no limit to participation as all classes are delivered online via zoom and can be done at home.
