Paul Hamlyn Foundation joins Islington Giving

Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) has joined Islington Giving.

We are delighted to announce that Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) has joined Islington Giving. The Foundation, established by publisher Paul Hamlyn in 1987, brings resources, knowledge, networks, and a history of social impact that will help change more lives for good in Islington.

Islington Giving and PHF share a belief in a society in which people can live a good life and fulfil their potential. The Foundation’s extensive funding experience covers India and the UK. They support successful and innovative projects that create opportunities for young people and improve access to the arts. The Foundation, based on the Camden/Islington border, will now be working with us to support local communities.

PHF has a track record of effective and intentional collaboration. This fits with the ethos of Islington Giving, which brings people together from all walks of life. The Foundation mirrors its founder’s belief “that change often comes about because of the application of good ideas by passionate people.” Being a part of Islington Giving will give PHF even more opportunities to support inspiring people whose ideas and actions change lives.

As its founder did in business and philanthropy, Paul Hamlyn Foundation backs innovative ideas. The Board and team at Islington Giving are excited to work with the Foundation to hone our pioneering approach to local philanthropy.

“We are delighted that the well-respected Paul Hamlyn Foundation is becoming part of Islington Giving. Their support and knowledge will be invaluable in changing more lives for good in our borough.” Rob Hull, Chair, Islington Giving

Rob Hull, Islington Giving Chair, said: “We are delighted that the well-respected Paul Hamlyn Foundation is becoming part of Islington Giving. Their support and knowledge will be invaluable in changing more lives for good in our borough.

“Twenty other London boroughs are now part of the growing ‘Giving’ movement. By sharing the learning from this new partnership, we hope to develop our place-based approach even further.”

Moira Sinclair, Chief Executive, Paul Hamlyn Foundation comments: “Whilst we make grants across the UK and will continue to do so, we are very aware there are people facing all kinds of hardships on our doorstep. We want to tether some of our assets locally, to learn to be a good neighbour, and to encourage others to do the same. This grant is one of four that we are making as we launch Our Neighbourhood Fund, which will allocate 1% of our grant funding to organisations in and around our office in Kings Cross, with whom we hope to develop long lasting and meaningful relationships.”
