Islington Giving’s Golden Grant Makers are pleased to share which local projects and groups have received funding.
Continuing on our journey of resident-led grant-making, In 2022 we embarked on our first Golden Grant Maker resident panel. The panel, comprised of five local residents over 55, designed a call for work that enriches the lives of Islington’s older residents.
Together they were given a total of £180,000 in funding for local projects and received proposals from over 40 applicants – totalling over £1 million in costs – showcasing a high demand for projects supporting older residents in the borough. The panel made final funding decisions in February 2023 and eight organisations received a share of the funding.

- Healthy Generations: Free, socially engaging activities to support older residents take control of their health and wellbeing. ~ £15,350
- Help on Your Doorstep: 4 Good Neighbours based enrichment projects. ~ £17,480
- All Change: A programme of weekly mixed arts workshops, artist-residencies in community, day and residential care settings and intergenerational projects. ~ £30,000
- Cubitt: A two-year programme of over fifty artist-run creative workshops, exchanges and gatherings. ~ £32,415
- Community Language Support Service: A programme of outreach and social events for housebound BAMER residents. ~ £19,652
- Stuart Low Trust: A programme of outreach and buddy support to bring older people into their main programme of activities. ~ £35,250
- Park Theatre: Towards a programme of support for carers and people in care homes and in the community living with Dementia through the therapeutic power of music and drama. ~ £22,740
- Cook for Good: Towards a men’s cooking club. £7,113
The Golden Grant Makers programme was the most recent in our resident-led grant making initiatives, helping us to continue learning from and sharing power with residents, and create a vibrant and interconnected community in Islington. The awarded projects reflect the panel’s commitment to enhancing the lives of older individuals by fostering social connections, promoting creativity, encouraging active lifestyles, and addressing resident need holistically.
