Islington Giving’s Golden Grant Makers are pleased to share which local projects and groups have received funding.
Continuing on our journey of resident-led grant-making, In 2022 we embarked on our first Golden Grant Maker resident panel. The panel, comprised of five local residents over 55, designed a call for work that enriches the lives of Islington’s older residents.
Together they were given a total of £180,000 in funding for local projects and received proposals from over 40 applicants – totalling over £1 million in costs – showcasing a high demand for projects supporting older residents in the borough. The panel made final funding decisions in February 2023 and eight organisations received a share of the funding.
“It was really difficult, having to make decisions about who should get funding and who shouldn’t. We spent a lot of time considering all of the options, but it has also helped me with decision making.” ~ Golden Grant Maker
