You can support the people and place you care about by leaving a gift to Islington Giving in your will. Islington Giving was established by our parent charity, Cripplegate Foundation, which was itself established thanks to a gift left in John Sworder’s Will over 500 years ago. With over 500 years of charitable support in Islington and the City of London, you can be assured that a gift in your Will to Islington Giving will have a lasting legacy for people in Islington.
Six easy steps
If this sounds like something you would like to do, please see our six easy steps to leave a lasting legacy to future generations in your local community.
1. Decide who you would like to name as executors, as they’ll be responsible for ensuring your wishes are carried out. You can also pay your solicitor to be your executor if you choose.
2. Calculate the value of your assets, including property and investments, as well as anything you may owe.
3. List the family, friends, loved ones and causes you’d like to remember in your Will. If you do decide to include a gift to Islington Giving, remember that any amount or percentage of your estate can make a huge difference.
4. Visit a solicitor to have your Will drawn up. We always recommend hiring a professional to ensure your Will is valid.
5. Keep a copy of your Will in a safe place – your solicitor may be able to do this for you – and ensure your executors know where your Will is kept.
