📢 Become a Young Grant Maker 2026!

A group of young people from our Young Grant Makers programme 2026

16-24? Live in Islington? Want to gain skills, earn money and make change in your community? Become a Young Grant Maker!

“Young Grant Makers gives us the power and a voice to provide life-changing opportunities. I’ve seen it happen myself!”

Our Young Grant Makers programme gives 12 young people the power to fund the local youth projects and services that are most important to them. You could be one of them!

Young Grant-Makers is a five-month resident-led programme that gives young people (aged 16-24) the power to choose how money is spent on youth projects and services in Islington (e.g. homelessness, knife crime, etc.). Sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings from 5-7pm from October 2026 to February 2027 with a break for the December school holiday. The role is a part-time, five-month contract, working 2+ hours per week at £14.80. You will receive support and training to build new skills and learn about funding services.

The closing date for applications is Monday 15th September 2026 at 1pm.

Why apply?

There are so many benefits to becoming a Young Grant Maker:

  • Have a real say: help make funding decisions that affect young people in Islington.
  • Back projects you believe in: support local ideas and organisations that are making a difference.
  • Build your skills and experience: get training and develop skills in decision-making, teamwork, communication and more.
  • Get paid: you’ll receive the London Living Wage (£14.80 per hour) for your time.
  • Help share power: be part of a movement putting young people at the heart of decisions about funding.
  • Meet other young people:  work alongside a team of Young Grant Makers, share ideas and have fun along the way.

“Young Grant Makers are different young people fighting for different causes; it’s an amazing way to take action and see the benefits of our decisions in real-time.”
