At the beginning of the month Islington Giving’s parent charity, Cripplegate Foundation held a celebration event with groups funded by Islington Council’s Community Chest. The event brought together 230 people to celebrate the incredible impact of small, grassroots community groups, build a sense of community and provide local groups with networking opportunities.
Community chest is a long-standing programme supporting small Islington-based voluntary and community organsiations to make a positive impact in the community, and is funded through a partnership between Islington Council and Cripplegate Foundation.
In attendance were 60 performers (including Everyone’s Music Jam, Arco – Music for All, and Amberliegh), 43 organisations (of which 40 are funded by Community Chest), and 16 groups with display stands.
A huge thank you to all the incredible groups, residents, performers, council representatives – and Cripplegate Foundation Govenors who joined us! It was a fantastic event full of music, laughter and building new connections. A special thanks goes to the young people from Amberliegh and Arco for their brilliant performances.
