Not everyone in London has a comfortable life: the level of inequality in Islington and Camden is stark. Islington Giving and Camden Giving work with community groups in these two North London boroughs to ensure everyone has equal access to activities, support and services for young people, older residents, and families. Sharing the same aims, and being good neighbours, we decided to work together to connect local businesses with the community – while you get fit we can support more residents where you work and live!
Place is at the heart of what we all collectively do. Which is why we call on businesses across our neighbouring North London boroughs to pledge their commitment – supporting the place many of us call home.
If you’re a business in Islington or Camden, we need you. The task is simple: You and your team challenge yourselves to walk 10,000 steps a day, for 31 days.
From your commute to and from work, your lunch break trip to the shops or cafes, weekend walks, or after work gym classes – your steps can be clocked anyway you like!
Each week your collective steps will be submitted to Islington Giving team while Camden teams work with Camden Giving, creating friendly competition between businesses and across the two boroughs. But most importantly taking part really does count.
We will make a public announcement for the the winning borough, team and business on the first week of April – get your name and achievements out there for the whole borough to see!
