Sarah Lee joined the Board of Governors in October 2020. Sarah is Chair of the Islington Giving Board, Islington Giving Grants Committee, Islington Together Strategy Group, as well as a member of the Foundation’s Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee. Sarah is a local resident and has been working with the Islington-based international law firm Slaughter and May since 1993. (Slaughter and May is also one of Islington Giving’s BIG Alliance members.) Sarah was a Partner and, until recently, was the Head of Disputes and Investigations Group and has been the partner with overall responsibility for Diversity and Inclusion and Graduate Recruitment. Her many voluntary roles have included: Trustee and Director of the Board of the Royal Courts of Justice and Islington Citizens Advice Bureau; and a Member of Pilotlight, a charity which teams business leaders with charities to support them with strategic planning. Sarah has also received external recognition and was named in the 2016 Upstanding 100 Leading Ethnic Minority Executives List, and the 2017, 2018 and 2019 EMpower 100 Ethnic Minorities Role Model List, featured in the Financial Times. Sarah said: “The work of the Foundation to achieve better lives for the people of Islington has never been more important given recent circumstances.”
