Support for Islington residents affected by the devastating earthquake in Türkiye and Syria

The Governors and Staff of the Cripplegate Foundation and Islington Giving share our thoughts with all those who have been affected by the devastating crisis in Türkiye and Syria, including Islington’s local Turkish, Kurdish, and Syrian communities.

We’re working together with local voluntary and community organisations on how we can come together as a community to support people impacted.

If you want to help people in Turkey and Syria, you can donate to international and national charities who are working in the area. If you’d like to donate, please consider a financial contribution to the Disasters Emergency Committee, British Red Cross, Human Relief Foundation, or Islamic Relief.

Locally, women’s centre IMECE is offering counselling to residents in Islington affected by the earthquakes. For more information call IMECE on 0207 3541359 or email info@imece.org.uk.

KMEWO (Kurdish And Middle Eastern Women’s Organisation) is also offering one-to-one counselling and emotional support for those who are affected by the earthquake. Their services may be especially helpful for Arabic speaking Syrian women in the borough and those who speak Dari, Farsi, or Kurdish-Sorani. Call KMEWO for more details on 07748851125 or 07557236874.

Manor Gardens Welfare Trust is offering vital support including mental health support for those affected by the crisis in any way. Contact 020 7272 4231 or email admin@manorgardenscentre.org to find out more.

You can also donate via Finsbury Park Mosque’s fundraiser to help those in need in the area.

“We’re heartbroken to see the devastation that has happened in the area. The council have a large Turkish and Kurdish community in Islington and we know they are hurting right now, so we must offer support and solidarity.”

Islington Council, Cllr Roulin Khondoker, Executive Member for Equalities, Culture, and Inclusion and Cllr Una O’Halloran, Executive Member for Homes and Communities.
