London Village Network announced as a 2019 finalist of the Tech4Good Awards
Tech4Good has announced that London Village Network (LVN) is one of the shining finalists of their Awards this year, in the Connected Society category.
Every year, AbilityNet and BT organise the Tech4Good awards to honour individuals and organisations whose work improves human lives through the use of technology. “Every finalist deserves huge credit for using their passion for digital technology to change the lives of other people for the better”, said Mark Weber, Head of Marketing & Communications at AbilityNet.
LVN is a grassroots organisation in London that aims to bring people together to change the life chances of vulnerable young people. With the help of 200 local 16-25 year olds, LVN has developed an app that makes it easy for adults, youth workers and young people to connect and volunteer one hour of time to share knowledge and experiences.
Islington Giving is a proud supporter of LVN and only last year funded a monthly networking event across Islington that gave young people exposure to different career opportunities and insights. Thanks to the giving of local people, Islington Giving’s funding trained 8 youth workers to deliver more than 30 Industry Insight sessions across the borough.
Other finalists of the award category include CENTURY Tech, an AI teaching and learning platform for schools, colleges and universities; MeeTwo, a peer support mental health app and Albyn Housing Fit Homes, a new housing concept that uses sensors to enable predictive health analytics.
The winners will be announced in less than two weeks, at a ceremony on 17 July at BT Centre. We wish LVN the best of luck!
