In 2016, Islington’s young people told us that they wanted to be part of the conversation about funding choices – and we listened.

Last year, we pioneered an exciting approach to local funding, which genuinely put decision-making power in the hands of local young people.

The opportunity

In 2019, we are aiming to recruit up to 16 young people from Islington, aged 16-26, to be the second cohort of Islington Young Grant-Makers.

Coming together as a group from March to November, the Young Grant-Makers will make decisions about how to invest £80,000 of Islington Giving’s grant budget in local youth focused projects.

Young Grant Makers will receive…

  • powerful professional and personal development, including training in grant-making and communication styles, negotiation and more.
  • they will be paid for their time, plus travel expenses and refreshments.

How to get involved

Young Grant Makers don’t need to have any previous similar experience. We want to meet young people who have ideas about their local community, and who want to have a say in making it better for Islington’s younger residents.

If you are interested in getting involved in the Young Grant Makers programme in 2019, you can contact Alex Duffy, Young Grant Makers Programme Lead, on alexandra.duffy@cripplegate.org.uk or 0207 288 6940 to find out more.
