Islington Winter Appeal 💜

Together, we can make connections, spark joy, and change lives in Islington. Will you join us in making a difference this winter?

Local projects that change lives.

People in Islington face some of the highest levels of poverty and isolation in the country. And with record levels of people struggling to make ends meet this winter, things can feel hopeless.

But we know what an incredible community we are part of in Islington – and the difference we can make when we come together to support our neighbours. Islington Giving was set up to raise funds for local projects that can change lives.

This winter, we need your help to fund inspiring projects in your local community. Together, we can create opportunities for isolated older people to make connections and beat loneliness. We can spark joy for young families through free to access messy play sessions. And we can change lives by ensuring our most vulnerable neighbours get the support they need.

Every donation to our Islington Winter Appeal, however small, will make an impact. Together, we can make a difference on our doorstep.

£38 could supply materials for a therapeutic arts session for refugees and asylum seekers
£75 could pay for a community chef to provide nutritious, locally grown food for families
£246 could fund two full days of classes and activities for older people in Islington

Change lives for vulnerable people in your community – New Art Studio

61% of asylum seekers in the UK experience serious mental distress.  “When I came to this country, I had lost my trust in people. Since I started at New Art Studio, I have built back my trust and improved my self-confidence.” ~ Ayse, a member of New Art Studio  “In this studio people are touching each other’s lives, caring about each other’s problems. I’ve met lots of good, beautiful people” ~ Mehmet, a member of New Art Studio  “Without New Art Studio, most of us wouldn’t have met these colourful people, have them in our lives. It has an impact on a lot of people’s lives.” ~ Hassan, a member of New Art Studio  People seeking asylum and refuge in Islington need safe spaces like the New Art Studio to share their experiences of conflict and trauma through art and creativity.  Help change lives on your doorstep – donate to fund more essential community projects that change lives. Spark joy for local young families

Make Do Play provides free, child-led messy play sessions for children to explore and learn and parents to find support and build new friendships.  “Make do Play is amazing. There’s nothing really like it. My son has been to the sessions a lot and it’s really amazing – he absolutely loves it. It’s such an important and brilliant part of the community.” – Parent at Make do Play  “It’s free to access and so welcoming. So much doesn’t feel like it’s open to parents like me, I want to get the word out about this, and see more opportunities like it for parents and children.” Parent at Make do Play  “There’s not much else like this – and there needs to be.” ~ Parent at Make do Play  Child poverty levels in Islington are the highest in London, and children here have less outdoor space than almost anywhere else in the country. That’s why free play sessions like Make Do Play are so important, giving every child a chance to explore, learn and get messy! You can help fund inspiring projects like this right here in your local community, sparking joy and changing lives.  Spark joy for local families
