Make connections for older people to beat loneliness – Claremont

1 in 3 older people in Islington are struggling to make ends meet. Many are isolated and lonely, and winter is often the toughest time.

“There are lots of people that are lonely, that have lost someone – the activities here can take people out of being isolated and give them a focus.” ~ Ruben, a member of Claremont

“If Claremont wasn’t here, it would be awful. The classes and activities are an opportunity to mix with new people. I’ve made many new friends over the years – sometimes we go out for dinners outside of classes.” ~ Pippa, a member of Claremont

“Coming to Claremont gives me a sense of belonging and being valued. It’s a safe, caring environment. So essential for someone without a family.” ~ a member of Claremont

The Claremont Project provides more than 35 free classes every week for people over 55 to come together and talk, dance, paint and laugh.

You can make a difference on your doorstep – donate today to fund more community projects that build friendships and spark joy this winter.
