We are delighted to announce that the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity has joined Islington Giving. They will be contributing £90,000 over three years towards the coalition.
The Goldsmiths’ Company Charity is a grant funder, founded in the late nineteenth century, with investment income on assets given by the Goldsmiths’ Company over the centuries. Its Board of Trustees is made up of members of the Goldsmiths’ Company’s Court of Assistants.
The Goldsmiths’ Company Charity builds partnerships with other charitable organisations that work with young people, prisoner reintegration, an ageing population, education and culture.
Recent funding awarded by the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity includes a grant towards MyBnk’s MoneyWorks programme, which aims to support and bolster the money management skills of young people leaving care in preparation for living independently. Another is Time and Talents in Rotherhithe; funding was put towards their Neighbourhood Care Service, which helps and supports elderly people who have become isolated and hidden.
Given the clear parallels between the aims of the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity, and those of Islington Giving, our Board and team are excited to start this partnership. We will work together for the next three years to tackle the effects of inequality in the borough of Islington and change more lives for good.
In a statement announcing the new partnership, Islington Giving Chair Rob Hull said,
“We are thrilled to have another major funder join the Islington Giving board. It is a recognition of the valuable work being carried out by a coalition of voluntary and private sector partners in support of our local Islington community. We look forward to gaining insights and support from the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity as we continue to develop the Islington Giving model.”
Ciorsdan Brown, Head of Charitable Partnerships & Strategy at the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity said: “Both the Goldsmiths’ Company Charity and Islington Giving are united by a common aim: to do good, better. We are excited to be able to contribute at such a hyper-local level and continue to develop and evolve our giving model to remain an outward looking and collaborative charity.
We are delighted to join the coalition and look forward to working with some fantastic partners from both the voluntary and private sectors. Joining Islington Giving presents a natural fit, given our close physical proximity to Islington which is often described by our members as ‘on our doorstep’.”
